Annual dental cleanings and oral exams protect your pet from diseases and infections such as Gingivitis and Periodontal Disease. Due to the harmful bacteria present in plaque and tartar, dental disease may lead to heart and lung disease as well as liver and kidney disease.
Symptoms of dental disease, such as Periodontal Disease and Gingivitis, cause considerable pain and discomfort. These symptoms may include:
It is impossible to completely assess dental health without dental radiographs. This vital tool is imperative to make an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan because half of each tooth (the roots) cannot be seen with eyes alone. Because of this, dental radiographs are essential while performing dental procedures and evaluating procedural success.
We take every precaution during each dental cleaning to make sure your companion leaves happy and with sparkling teeth! The dental procedure must be performed under general anesthesia and our trained medical team will closely monitor your pet throughout the entire procedure and afterwards while in recovery until they are stable and alert. Prior to the procedure, we will run pre-surgical blood panels to ensure that your pet is able to handle anesthesia. Your furry family member will be monitored the same way a human under anesthesia would be monitored. We take anesthesia very seriously, and take every safety precaution possible.
It is beneficial to brush your pet’s teeth every day, particularly after a meal. If your pet is resistant, we can teach you how to get them used to this process. We recommend to pet owners to begin brushing teeth at a young age so they become used to the act and it is easier for you!
