Levittown Animal Hospital is proudly accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Demonstrating our commitment to the highest standards of veterinary excellence, this distinction is shared with less than 15% of animal hospitals in the country and is recognized worldwide as the benchmark for superior veterinary medicine.
Since the early 1930s, veterinary professionals have been writing and refining specific standards for veterinary practices. As the veterinary field continues to progress, AAHA’s standards are updated accordingly to ensure all benchmarks are reflective of the industry’s developments and AAHA’s philosophy. Although a number of standards advance with the times, AAHA’s mission has remained unchanged: to offer veterinary professionals with resources to effectively manage their businesses and deliver the best in companion animal care.
AAHA Accreditation is not a one-time achievement. In fact, AAHA routinely checks in on us to ensure our hospital continues to comply with the association’s distinguished standards of care. Evaluations are stringent on over 900 individual standards and divided into 18 major sections. Considering all facets of superior pet care, AAHA’s areas of focus include: patient care and pain management, surgery, pharmacy, laboratory, exam facilities, medical records, emergency services, dental care, diagnostic imaging, anesthesiology, and continuing education.
AAHA Accreditation is one of the greatest achievements a hospital can achieve. Being recognized by a prestigious and respected association dedicated to first-rate veterinary care allows our hospital to provide cutting-edge and exemplary care for our valued patients.
Levittown Animal Hospital is proud to be the first hospital on Long Island to be Certified in Low Stress Handling, a certification that denotes our commitment to making every patient’s visit as pleasant and stress-free as possible.
Low Stress Handling is a collection of handling techniques designed to minimize patient stress and maximize veterinary efficiency. Based in behavioral science, these techniques help calm anxious patients, making the entire treatment process easier and safer for the animals and people involved. In order to earn the title of a Low Stress Handling Certified hospital, Levittown’s staff completed a comprehensive training course on Low Stress Handling techniques and methods. We took the time to earn this Certification because we see great value in creating a stress-free environment for every patient that walks through our door.
Does the thought of a trip to the veterinarian make you and your pet cringe in terror? Our certification in Low Stress Handling simply means that, when you come to Levittown Animal Hospital, you can expect your pet to be handled in a caring and calming manner that will make visits to the veterinarian a much less stressful experience. The doctors and technicians that handle your pet will be equipped with the skills to approach, hold, and maneuver your pet in a way that is calming and natural for him or her. If your pet often gets anxious in the exam room, these techniques will help make your pet feel more comfortable with the many components of a physical exam, helping the exam run smoothly and quickly.
Low Stress Handling also involves the environment your pets are being treated in. Our Certification means that we understand what sight, sounds, and smells in our hospital could increase stress, and we have taken measures to create a calmer and safer environment for our patients.
We hope that our Certification in Low Stress Handling will make trips to the veterinarian a much more pleasant experience for you and your pet moving forward.
